My Low Budget Treatment For Dry, Itchy Scalp
Our Mother A'ishah (radhi Allahu anha) also narrated that "The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) used to (put) bend his head (out) to me while he was in Itikaf in the Mosque during my monthly periods and I would comb and oil his hair."

If your hair is dry, brittle, itchy and full of dandruff, then this post is definitely for you.
When you first begin your healthy hijabi hair journey and you start washing hair often without knowing if your conditioner, shampoo or moisturizers are protein or moisturizing then you may disrupt the hair's normal pH. Which will ultimately lead to a dry, itchy hair ripped of oil.
This simple low budget scalp treatment should be helpful for hijabis with dry and itchy hair.
- Aloe Vera gel. This could be sourced locally or you simply purchase the aloe vera gel from a supermarket.
- Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) 2 table spoons.
- Some water.
- Black Jamaican castor oil or just Castor oil. The black Jamaican castor oil is most efficient but expensive
- Tea tree oil 5 drops.
- Mint oil 5 drops.
AVC is an anti-fungal, and an antibacterial agent which reduces itchy and dried scalp. It also balances hair pH and removes product build-up, thus stimulating hair growth and reducing hair breakage.
Tea tree oil and Mint oil improves blood circulation and increase hair growth. They also act as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent.
I use the HERMANI products for my hair oils as they are cheap and come in 30mls bottles.
Mix all ingredients well and baggy hair for 30 minutes to 1hr. Rinse off with a non sulphate shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner. Oil and style afterwards.
